Oratorical

The American Legion Oratorical Contest has been inspiring high school students since 1938 to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the U.S. Constitution. This program presents a unique academic speaking challenge, encouraging participants to hone valuable leadership skills while exploring the history of our nation’s laws. Through this experience, students learn to articulate their thoughts clearly, gaining insights into the duties, responsibilities, rights, and privileges of American citizenship. In addition to fostering personal growth, the contest offers young orators the chance to compete for some of the most generous college scholarships available to high school students.

Eligibility extends to those under 20, with competitions starting at the local post level and progressing to state competitions, making it an enriching opportunity for aspiring speakers nationwide.
